Gwarf

A gravelly-skinned humanoid that evolved from dwarves in Cloudsdruff as a result of prolonged exposure to minerals in their complex underground cities riddled with tunnels and mines that are essential to their way of life and trade goods. Unlike other races of Cloudsdruff which have been slow to create any advanced technology (particularly compared to the Below World- known simply as Earth to its inhabitants), the Gwarves, with a excess of useful metals such as steel and iron, have developed a crude form of electricity and created explosives that are used carefully in the extraction of stubborn materials.

They have also developed a relationship with rocklings, a small crab-like elemental creature that feeds indiscriminately on rocks of all kinds, creating its own tunnels that the Gwarves often appropriate for their own ends. This resourceful Gwarf, and many others, have come up with a way of incorporating a rockling corpse into drill-like contraptions. By their nature, a rockling body is highly resilient and harder than most metals due to its incredible density, and thus is an excellent and cheap supplement for a drill-bit. Aside from incorporating the creatures into tools for their own ends, the rockling has been known to befriend Gwarves and act as a loyal and entertaining pet.

As a rule Gwarves, like their ancestors, have little to no gender differences, the females priding their beards as much as the males. One common exception is the popular use of gold dust applied to the skin among females, allowing them to glitter in the dim lamp-light.
